Richard J. Vanacore

March 25, 1945 ~ January 22, 2023 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Tribute

Richard Joseph Vanacore, 77, of Ridgewood, passed away at home surrounded by family on
Sunday, January 22, following a courageous battle with ALS. Richard was the son of the late
Joseph and Katherine Vanacore of Bergenfield.

Richard was born in Bronx, NY, and moved with his family to Bergenfield in 1956. After
graduation from Bergenfield High School, he joined the United States Navy, where he was an
electronics technician on board the Navy destroyer, the U.S.S. Witek. He was honorably
discharged in 1966 and began a career with IBM. He went on to open his own electronics
business, Zodiac Business Machines, with his business partner, Norman Kendall, where they
supported businesses large and small, as well as school districts throughout Bergen County.
Prior to retirement, Richard was the senior service writer for Honda of Tenafly.

He was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood, where he was an ordained
Elder, faithful head usher and served on numerous committees in support of the mission and
ministry of the church.

Richard’s greatest joy was in spending time with his family and friends, and as an outdoorsman
who enjoyed fishing and skeet shooting. Richard will be remembered for his keen sense of
humor, his ability to tell the perfect joke and his witty storytelling.

Richard is predeceased by his parents, by his brother, Ronald Vanacore, and by his father- and
mother-in-law, Sidney and Marjorie Rosengren.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Marjorie Vanacore, and his three children,
Jeffrey Richard Vanacore (Lauren), Megan Vanacore LeBoon (Jon) and Andrew Harry Vanacore
(Kelsey). He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren: William, James, Samantha, Patrick
and Archer.

A visitation will be on Friday, January 27 from 4:00-7:00pm at Feeney Funeral Home of
Ridgewood. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 28 at 11:00 am, in the sanctuary of
The First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood, with the Rev. Bruce Ballentine and the Rev. Mary
Marcus officiating. Committal will be private.
