The Feeney Flagpole
We like to think of our flagpole as a community bulletin board. Whenever we have a funeral service, we will ask the family which flag or flags they would like us to fly in honor of their loved one. Usually, the flag represents their nation of origin. Some families, however, have chosen sports team flags, others organizations. People driving or walking by the funeral home have stopped and asked “What going on with changing the flags so often?” When it is explained, people say that they now pay close attention to which flag or flags are flying!
When we have no funeral services, we will fly the State flag of New Jersey, and the ‘Honor and Remember’ flag. When it is a holiday, we will fly whatever flag represents that holiday.
So, when you go past the funeral home, take a glance, and see what’s flying!
