Shirley Jean Terrebush (Hornbaker), 89, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
A devoted daughter to Howard and Isabel Hornbaker, a caring sister to Thelma Baechtold, Doris Almy, Norma Elaine Fitzsimmons, Sharon Safara, a dedicated wife to Steve Terrebush, a cherished mother to Steven Terrebush, Donna Lanigan and Cynthia Spearnock, a beloved grandmother to Steve, Kelly, Gary, Kevin, Michael and Elys Terrebush, Kerri and John Lanigan, Hunter and Amber Spearnock, and a loving great-grandmother to Hailey Terrebush.
Shirley was born in 1934 Scranton, PA and she grew up in Newark, NJ. As a child she loved to spend her summers up at the family farm. In Newark, NJ she met her husband Steve and started their young family. In time, they would move to Edison, NJ where their family would grow and prosper. Shirley would work many different jobs to expand her experiences and form her amazing world view. Her job at Woolworth’s was where she befriended her future son-in-law, Kevin Lanigan. Raising her children and future grand and great grandchildren would be a prominent joy in her life.
She was always giving whatever she had to anyone that was near, even if all she had to give was a laugh and a smile. Her home was always open to anyone who was around, everyone was considered a friend and part of the family. Her holiday dinners could not be matched and her home was always full of love. She loved to travel and was always keeping busy. If you knew her, you were part of her heart always.
Visiting will be held Thursday, September 14th from 6-8 PM at Feeney Funeral Home, Ridgewood. Interment on Friday, September 15th at 12:30 PM at Madisonville Union Cemetery, Madisonville Rd, Moscow, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s name to The Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) would be greatly appreciated.
