Robert Gawel

Robert Gawel, age 71, of Rensselaer NY, formerly of Waldwick NJ, passed away September 27, 2021. Beloved father of Brendon (Marla) Gawel, and Joseph (Laurie) Gawel. Adoring grandfather of Camrose, Hugo, Owen, Everett Gawel. Devoted brother of Linda Frisch (Robert), Cliff Gawel, and Michael (Mary Anne) Gawel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Robert was a US Air Force Veteran. He loved hiking and flying, and relished discussing religion and politics. He was a member of the NY & NJ Trail Conference, and the Albany Chesterton Society. Robert was a former airplane mechanic at Teterboro Airport. In recent years, he scheduled airplane maintenance in the Albany NY area. He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Albany. The family has decided to have private services.
