Tribute

Robert W. Feldner, Master Carpenter, Master of Dad Jokes and Master-Level Human Being, passed away Wednesday, January 25th, suddenly and without warning.  He is survived by his life partner and soulmate - Heidi C. Bordogna, his parents – George and Eileen Feldner, his brothers, George Jr., Michael and Larry, four nieces and three nephews.

And countless family members and friends.

Rob was an amazing person who loved to laugh, was known for his insane and clever sense of humor, his love for his family and his dedication to his work, which he adored.

Rob grew up in Washington Township, NJ and spent a great deal of time down the NJ shore as a child at his family’s beach house, where his parents would later retire.

He graduated from the University of South Carolina and lived in Columbia, SC, then later in Savannah, GA.

After Rob and Heidi met, they lived in Louisiana for a number of years before settling back up in New Jersey in 2014.

Rob was very excited to work at Fifty-Three Restorations and was so proud of and fond of the work he did renovating historic buildings in New York, including Belvedere Castle and many buildings in Central Park, Fraunces Tavern and many others.

Rob loved to create and could build or fix just about anything.  His woodworking skills were exemplary, and he greatly enjoyed building and working with his hands.  He loved to make jam, bake cookies, roast and smoke meats.  He loved to hike and kayak.  He and Heidi loved to pick apples, go to concerts, attend the renaissance faire, eat Korean Barbecue and other international foods, and everything tiki.

Rob was an animal lover and would take pictures of cats, bunnies and dogs in little coats on his way to work and would text them to his family and friends.  He loved playing jokes and pranks on people and the recipients of the jokes and pranks loved it even more.

Rob always loved to explore, try new things and have adventures.  In the past two months, he and Heidi went curling and took an archery lesson from an Olympic archer.

He gave the best hugs in the world.

To say he will be dearly missed is an understatement.  When you think of him, please remember his smile, his clever and often snarky sense of humor, and his incredible laugh.

Services will be held Thursday, February 2nd at St. Luke’s Church, 340 North Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ 07423.  A viewing will be held that morning at 10:00am with a mass following at 11:00am.  All are welcome.
