Evelyn Szulis

Szulis, Evelyn, 97, of Glen Rock, passed away June 5, 2022. Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward in 2017. She was also predeceased by her brother Warren Buser and his wife Geraldine, her nephew Michael Buser, and her niece Lorraine Halsch. Evelyn is survived by her loving children: daughter Laurey and her husband Peter Straub of Fair Lawn, and son Ronald Szulis of Meriden, CT. She is also survived by her nieces Eileen Walsh (Rich) and Mary-Ann Ruckhaus (Mark), and her nephew Kenneth Buser (Heather). Evelyn grew up in Union City, NJ, and was very active in the PTA for both Gilmore School and Emerson High School. In her later years she was active in the Glen Rock Seniors. Evelyn devoted her time to the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion and the Glen Rock Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary. Evelyn and her husband Edward also enjoyed serving on the Refreshment Committee for St. Catharine’s Church in Glen Rock, helping to prepare refreshments to serve after Sunday Mass. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Catharine RC Church, Glen Rock. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Visiting Tuesday from 3-7 PM at the Feeney Funeral Home, Ridgewood. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) would be greatly appreciated.
