Contino Z. Ranieri

February 6, 1962 ~ September 20, 2022 (age 60) 60 Years Old

Tribute

Contino “Tino” Ranieri, 60, loving husband, father, brother, and son, passed away peacefully at his home in Glen Rock New Jersey, surrounded by family after living with pancreatic cancer for two years.

Born in 1962 in Passaic, New Jersey and raised in Garfield, Tino also spent portions of his childhood living in his parents’ hometown of Brancaleone, Italy, in addition to a cherished year in Rome. He grew into a tireless worker with an inextinguishable drive. In 1987, Tino founded AC Ranieri Electric in Garfield, building a successful electrical contracting business that grew, over thirty-four years, from residential work to full industrial build-outs. It was also in Garfield that he met his beloved wife Cynthia Hughes in 1980 while working at the legendary Monster Subs, charming her with his playful sense of humor. Marrying in 1987, they would go on to raise three children in Glen Rock, spending summers at their second home in Bradley Beach, where he would later retire. He and his family were fortunate to travel to many islands and beaches across the globe, including his favorite destination, Brancaleone. When not at the beach, he could be found tending to his garden, and later the greenhouse he built on a whim. In the evenings, he loved to sit on the porch enjoying a good cigar mixed with the fresh sea air. Other hobbies included playing his guitar, filling his home with music, busting his friends’ chops, and tackling interior renovation projects by himself.

Tino took great pride in everything he did, and leaves behind a family proud of his accomplishments. He is survived by his wife, Cindy, children Zachary, Amanda, and Gabrielle, as well as his mother, Francesca Carisi Ranieri, sister Anna Ranieri and husband John Marciante, brother Anthony and wife Claudine, aunts Lynn Maschucci and Velia Carisi Mazzaferro, thirteen nieces and nephews, one great nephew, and cousins here and in Italy. Tino was predeceased by his father Contino Ranieri in 2000.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 23rd from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Feeney Funeral Home, Ridgewood. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, September 24th at 10:00 AM at St. Catharine RC Church, Glen Rock. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
